Detection and diagnosis of colon cancer

What is it?

The organs of the human body are composed of cells that divide to create new ones and replace those that die. When this mechanism is altered in a cell, it and its descendants begin to divide uncontrollably, eventually causing a lump or nodule.

If these cells also invade other tissues and organs nearby (infiltration) and even thrive in other parts of the body (metastasis), there is what we call malignant tumor or cancer.

When tumor cells are located in the colon or rectum, comes to colon cancer or colorectal cancer. Today is already the second most common cancer in developed countries, affecting both sexes equally.
