Stem cells to treat Crohn's

The Hospital Clinic of Barcelona pioneer in Europe, has initiated a treatment for Crohn's disease unresponsive to the conventional by transplantation of stem cells from the patient.

The procedure has already been successfully tested in the U.S., where it has operated twelve patients, and in Italy, with four cases in which it has achieved total remission of the disease in 80 percent of cases, and a considerable improvement in quality of life of 20 percent.
